Posted on Les De QVerified Remote reboot A simply stunning place to reboot. Arriving by small plane was the beginning of the adventure followed by a picturesque drive through the dusty roads to the lodge. It was like landing in an another world. Stunning views, wonderful accommodation and delicious home cooked food. We rode for a week on superb horses with fabulous guides. We saw bears, wolves, birds and otters as well as a wide range of plant life. An absolute must for experienced riding adventurers looking for an off grid (literally) experience. Thank you to the whole Tsylos team for an out of this world holiday.Posted on Mobile60738605102Verified Epic wilderness lodge- for experienced riders A truly extraordinary wilderness lodge, especially for experienced riders looking for happy, well cared for horses and epic rides. The “rollercoaster” lived up to its name- with 8 horses cantering along twisty, up and down single track along a mountain ridge. Another day we rode to the top of a mountain for spectacular 360 degree views of the BC coastal mountain range. Mid week was a day off horses- a good break for saddle weary riders and the horses- and we traveled by boat up 50 miles of the beautiful Chilco Lake, and didn’t see another boat all day. We stopped at remote cabins and small lakes a short walk from Chilco. The cabins are charming with comfy beds, and set on the hillside overlooking Chilco River. The other guests- riders and fly fishermen- made for a fun bunch. And the staff was friendly and helpful and made us feel at home. The food was classic, feel good family style dishes- with nothing repeated during the 7 days we were there. Be prepared- there isn’t easy access to the internet, which ended up being a highlight of the trip. If you need internet, you can occasionally access a Ethernet cable in the lodge office. I’m sure this is a trip my family with always cherish.Posted on Edward KVerified A cracking riding vacation in British Columbia at Tsylos Lodge on the Chilko River I have just returned from a fabulous riding vacation set in the wilderness of British Columbia. Karen and her team of staff headed by Josh were absolutely brilliant in making sure we all had a holiday to remember. There were six riders on the weeks break, Magdalena picked us a horse each suited to our preferences, I had Autumn who is a very sweet natured and well trained mare. The other guests all had equally lovely mounts. The riding terrain is challenging, the scenery stunning, it is not a riding holiday for novice or nervous riders. Lots of wildlife all around including black bears, bald eagles, deer, chipmunks, woodpeckers. It’s a shame we didn’t spot a grizzly but they are about and do congregate on the Chilko river when the salmon run starts. I am not a fisherman, but the fly fishing is apparently top notch with guests returning regularly. The three fishing guides certainly knew their stuff. Oh and the food was excellent. Dave and his team turned out tremendous breakfasts, prepared packed lunches, cookies and muffins, delicious bar snacks and first class dinners.Posted on Jennifer BVerified Our week was a great combination of exciting thrills and relaxing! My husband and I visited here in July 2023, we chose this lodge because they offered horseback riding for experienced riders and fly fishing. The lodge is very remote, which we loved! Our days were filled with each of our passions and then together we enjoyed a wonderful dinner with our new “family”. Karen owns and runs the lodge, she is approachable, friendly, and treats her staff like family. She runs a tight ship with staff that are happy and valued. As an experienced equestrian this trip was a great mixture of relaxation and some excellent riding. The trails and nature I experienced are something that will remain with me forever. My wrangler, Femke, became a dear friend that guided me through some thrilling rides. My horse, Autumn, was well taken care of and very willing…I fell in love with her too! My husband spent his days fly fishing, the fish were large and always biting. His guides were very knowledgeable and also became our friends. Our lodging was beautiful, our bed was so comfortable and the views from our cabin did not disappoint. The food was outstanding, Gary and Kiera did a wonderful job. During our week there we saw Grizzly bears, a black bear and a moose and it’s baby! We would love to go back and bring our son who is an avid fly fisherman (he is 13). I can’t say enough great things about our week!Posted on Roberta OVerified Best place to photograph grizzlies I love Tsylos Park Lodge! I have returned every year for almost a decade. The location is stunning, the grizzly viewing is unparalleled, the owner and her staff are outstanding. Chef Gary accommodates my vegetarian diet with exquisite meals. I have learned a lot of fascinating things about the bears, the salmon and the ecology of the area from Josh and the other guides. And arguably most special of all, I have gotten to know many bears as individuals, seeing some of them year after year like old friends.Posted on LeeHorbachewskiVerified Outstanding Experience to Treasure Forever Outstanding hospitality! Our guides Josh & Ben were incredible: ethical, knowledgeable, and highly skilled. The chef, Gary, created 5-star meals that were absolutely amazing! Karen's stories gave an insight into the area, a magical place that her family has called home since 1957. Sydney ensured everything was sparkling clean. The ability to experience and photograph the Chilko grizzlies with such an amazing team, is a gift I will treasure forever. Thank you for an unforgettable experience and for your love for the land and the wildlife that calls it home.Posted on happy travelerVerified An experience of a lifetime! The week we spent riding horses at Tsylos was exceptional! My horse was great to ride, the trails and scenery was beyond beautiful. We so enjoyed the comforts afforded to us each day at the lodge/cabin when we returned from our ride- the hot tub, drinks and delicious meals and very comfortable rooms and beds. We started the week with the Tsylos staff being strangers, and ended the week feeling like they were family. I would highly recommend Tsylos to any intermediate to advanced riders, fly fishermen/women and bear photographers. I loved it there and want to go back!Posted on christy259Verified An Amazing Place!! If you love photographing wildlife in beautiful surroundings, but would like to experience 5 star service and cuisine at the same time, this is the place for you!! The guides are amazing and know just how to find the bears and keep the boats steady while you get your perfect shot(s)! The grizzlies themselves are beautiful creatures and the guides make sure to keep them totally comfortable so that they will keep on fishing, fighting and playing so you can keep on shooting! After 6-7 hours on the river, interspersed with a delectable, hearty lunch and a breaktime, your evenings are spent enjoying seriously amazing food (thank you Gary – you’re the best!) and then either sitting around a roaring fire, trading stories with staff and new-found friends, or relaxing in the hut tub on the deck or in your comfortable rooms! Although we had a number of beautifully sunny days, it obviously does rain some of the time, so be sure to bring good raingear, a rain cover for your camera and your lens hood and enough warm layers and you should be very comfortable while on the river. A huge thank you to Karen who organized everything so well, and is so friendly and caring, and to Josh who is a fabulous guide, full of great stories, and can do pretty much anything that needs to be done ridiculously well! Also thank you Levi and Miles for using your excellent boating skills to make the hours on the river so much fun, and Maria for looking after our rooms with so much care, and for serving our meals with such cheerful warmth! You are all truly amazing and we look forward to seeing you again as soon as possible!!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
