For over 50 years, Tsylos Park Lodge, founded by the McLean family, has been a place where families, friends, and adventurers return year after year to unplug, reconnect, and make lasting memories. This season we proudly honor the legacy of Karen McLean – our sister, friend, Aunt and hostess who passed in 2025. Her heart, hospitality, and commitment to doing things right shaped the lodge into what it is today. The McLean family has a deep bench and many family members are still deeply involved with carrying on our good name.
As new (and familiar) management steps forward, our promise remains the same: the traditions you love, the honest service you trust, and the timeless beauty of Tsylos Park Lodge—carried on with care and respect.
Whether fishing the river, chasing Bull Trout on the lake, riding the trails or taking great photos of Grizzly Bears, Tsylos Park Lodge continues to be a place where adventure lives and memories are made.
We’re ready to welcome you this summer—now is the time to book your next adventure.
Chilko Lake is one of British Columbia’s most iconic wilderness destinations—the highest-elevation, largest natural freshwater lake in Canada above 1,000 m, stretching about 65 km long and up to 5 km wide, with depths reaching around 366 m in places. Fed by glaciers and backed by rugged, snow-covered peaks of B.C.’s Coast Mountain Range, its cold turquoise waters are renowned for powerful, native Rainbow and Bull Trout that draw accomplished fly fishermen from around the world. The sheer scale and rawness of the landscape—broad water framed by soaring mountains—evoke the remote beauty of Patagonia, Alaska, and New Zealand, where wilderness still dominates. At Chilko, grizzly bears, wolves, moose, and eagles aren’t just possibilities; they are part of the natural rhythm that makes every cast and every shoreline exploration feel alive and true.
Beyond the lake, the greater Chilcotin region opens into sweeping grasslands, river valleys, and high mountain plateaus that echo the scale and wildlife diversity of Yellowstone—only quieter and far less traveled. This is country built for long days on horseback, renowned fly fishing, and exceptional grizzly bear viewing in truly wild settings. For anglers, riders, and wildlife enthusiasts seeking the grandeur of Patagonia, the wildness of Alaska, or the open scale of Yellowstone without crowds or infrastructure, the Chilcotin, anchored by Chilko Lake, offers a rare and unforgettable wilderness experience: vast, unspoiled, and utterly unforgettable.
