Back in the 30s private
mining claims were common in parts of British Columbia. Such a claim was at the west end
of Franklin Arm, an 8 mile branch of 52 mile-long Chilko Lake. With his own hands and
local timber, the miner built a cabin. Today, the McLeans operate this outpost cabin
for hiking, fishing and hunting.
The setting is exceptional, with the Coastal Mountains out your front door. Only
accessible by boat, we have set up the cabin with beds, two stoves, a working kitchen, hot
running water, shower, outhouse and a dock. It is rustic, but for a base in the Chilko
backcountry, it couldnt be better!
You can arrange for a trip to the Franklin Arm outpost cabin with fishing/hiking guide who
will cook wonderful meals for you and keep your days full of adventure. We also offer big
game hunting from the Cabin in the fall time. If you are really trying to get away and
enjoy lake fishing for monster Bull Trout, hikes into waterfalls an remote lakes or
hunting...then ask about spending your next wilderness vacation at our outpost cabin. You
will love it! |
