Experience exceptional Mountain Goat hunting in spectacular
wilderness. Our guide area has a very large and healthy population of mature Mountain
Goats. Success rates have been near 100% when hunting goat. You will have the opportunity
to look and choose from excellent trophy animals. This is one of the most enjoyable and
challenging hunts you can ever make. It is a challenge that is really worth it!
We offer two different types of hunts for Mountain Goat in our area; both are exciting,
beautiful and have great success. One hunt is by horseback/hiking and the other is by
boat/hiking.
Chilko Lake Cabin Hunt
We have established several hunting camps along Chilko Lake for our hiking hunts. This is
a very successful way to hunt and gives the hunter a lot of flexibility to cover a large
area every day. You will stay in our very comfortable Franklin Arm Cabin on Chilko Lake as
your base camp and use a boat each day to spot and stalk Mountain Goat. The hiking is
strenuous and can take all day to hike from the lake level into the alpine, so you must be
in good physical shape and be able to handle long uphill hikes. The cabin is a great
location for eating and sleeping with hot running water (gravity fed) and beds; with two
stoves and a working kitchen...is it rustic? You bet, but it is very very comfortable.
Black Bear and world-class fishing is available on this hunt as well. Spike camps may be
used in the alpine on this hunt.
Mountain Goat Horseback Hunts
Base camps at 6,500 feet accessible by horse...what a way to hunt! A wall tent is set up
for cooking and relaxing, dome tents are used for sleeping and the horses are kept to help
us access those far away and uphill valleys where the big Billy Goats live. Hiking is
still required, but the aid of horses sure makes the packing home easier. The meals and
camp are very good and comfortable. The experience of hunting in the alpine with horses is
wonderful...something that you will never forget. Mule Deer and Black Bear mau be combined
with this hunt as well.
