BC is home to a quarter of all black bears in Canada and we have a good concentration of bears in our area. In the spring we glass the side hills by boat, horse, or hike and use spot and stalk technique to get in position. In the spring the bears are often found in avalanche chutes, grassy south facing slopes, and burn areas.
In fall, Chilko Lake and River are home to one of the largest and most consistent Salmon runs in North America. With the salmon being a consistent fall food source it attracts and sustains large bear populations.
We hunt by boat, horses and hiking as we comb the shoreline looking for that giant bear. Large male bears average between 5.5 to 7 feet square. Since we are on the water a lot of the time, world-class fishing is available throughout the hunt. We conduct our hunts from a camp, cabin or the lodge.
